A – The Directorate of Distance Education is offering its programmes in Two Modes –

  • Conventional or Direct mode.
  • Twinning Programme – through authorized Institutions by the Pondicherry University

A – In the Conventional Mode, the candidates have to apply directly to the Directorate of Distance Education by online admission or with the help of authorised Spot Admission Centres of DDE.

A – In the Twinning Programme Mode, the candidates have to enroll themselves through the Twinning Programme Institutions of Distance Education, Pondicherry University. Twinning Centres will provide teaching at their Centres.

A – The Directorate of Distance Education is offering 8 Undergraduate, 4 Postgraduate and 8 MBA programmes –

  • Undergraduate programmes – BBA, B.Com, Bachelor of Arts in English, Economics, History Political Science, Sociology, Journalism and Mass Communication .
  • Postgraduate programmes – Master of Arts in English, Hindi & Sociology and Com – Finance.

MBA programmes – Master of Business Administration in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, General, Tourism, Operations and Supply Chain Management and Hospital Management.

A – Eight (8) Undergraduate Degree programmes are being offered by the Directorate of Distance Education, Pondicherry University. These are BBA, B.Com Bachelor of Arts in English, Economics, History Political Science, Sociology, Journalism and Mass Communication.

A – Four (4) Postgraduate degree programmes are being offered by the Directorate of Distance Education, Pondicherry University. These are Master of Arts in English, Hindi, Sociology and M.Com-Finance.

A – Eight (8) MBA programmes are being offered by the Directorate of Distance Education. These are Master of Business Administration in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, General, Tourism, Operations & Supply Chain Management and Hospital Management.

A – All the degree programmes offered by the DDE, Pondicherry University are recognized by the AICTE, New Delhi and Distance Education Bureau (DEB) UGC, Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.

A – Yes, the Registration fee of Rs. 200 is collected at the time of admission through Online Portal.

A- The various degree programmes and the time to complete them are given below:

  • UG – 3 years (Non-semester)
  • PG – 2 years (Non-Semester)
  • MBA – 2 years (4 Semesters).

A – The total course fee for UG, PG and MBA programmes are:

  • UG –    9975/-      (including Registration Fee of Rs.200)
  • PG –     11425/-     (including Registration Fee of Rs.200)
  • MBA – Rs. 24925/- (including Registration Fee of Rs.200)

A – The admissions for Distance Education will be held twice in a year;

  • Calendar year admission (January session)
  • Academic year admission (June session)
A – The course fee can be paid as given below:

A – Students can apply ONLINE through DDE portal, in Pondicherry University Website or can approach any of the DDE Spot Admission Centres (List given in DDE website) with the necessary documents.



A – The following documents are required at the time of admission

  • UG – scanned copy of 10th, +2, passport size photograph & Aadhar number
  • PG – scanned copy of 10th, +2, Degree Certificate, passport size photograph & Aadhar number
  • MBA – scanned copy of 10th, +2, Degree Certificate, passport size photograph & Aadhar number

A – Certificate verification can be done through online at the scheduled time for each student or can be verified at Spot admission Centres. In case if the student is not able to do so, then they can send the Original Certificates through Registered Post to The Director, DDE for verification. The certificates will be returned to the students after verification through Registered/Speed post within a month.

A– The candidates must pay their admission fee only through Online Admission Portal

A – Yes, it is mandatory to verify the original certificates in the Directorate of Distance Education to submit them and get them verified for your admission confirmation.

A – The Directorate of Distance Education is having Spot Admission Centres all over India. Refer to our website www.pondiuni.edu.in (Directorate of Distance Education).

A – The Identity Card and the Study Materials will be dispatched to the students after one month from the closing date of admission.

A – Yes, the study materials will be dispatched to the students through Registered/ Speed post/ Courier Services.

A – Yes, all Study Materials can be downloaded from the University Website i.e, DDE webpage www.pondiuni.edu.in.

A – The returned study material will be sent again to the student by registered post on payment of Rs.200/- towards postal charges.

A – The PCP will be conducted twice in a year (March – April and October – November)

A – No, it will be uploaded on the University Website, DDE Webpage. keep checking for the same.

A- The PCP classes will be held in the weekends only (Saturdays and Sundays) at selected centres for selected courses based upon the number of students enrolled.

A – The total class input for UG, PG, and MBA programmes are as below:

  • UG – per year a total of 25 hours of PCP classes will be conducted.
  • PG – per year a total of 30 hours of PCP classes will be conducted.
  • MBA – per semester a total of 40 hours of PCP classes will be conducted.

A – In case the PCP is not conducted in the particular Centre opted by the student, he/she can attend PCP at any of our Centres where the PCP classes are conducted

A – The attendance in the PCP classes is not compulsory for the students.

A – Change of address for communication will be entertained on a request letter addressing to the Director, DDE, PU along with a fee in the form of Demand Draft of Rs.100/-.



A – Duplicate Identity Card can be obtained by sending a request letter or the prescribed application form along with a Demand Draft of Rs.100/- addressing to the Director, DDE, PU.

A – The examination is scheduled twice in a year i.e., in the month of June and December.

A– The candidate can appear the not qualified or remaining papers along with the subsequent scheduled examinations.

A– The examination fee is not included with the course fee. Examination fee has to be paid along with the examination application form before exams.

  Note: These dates are tentative and subject to change depend upon the starting date of the session, schedule made by the DDE.

A – The UG courses must be completed within 6 years. PG and MBA courses must be completed within 4 years.

A – The candidate cannot change the course after the allotment of enrollment number.

A – Directorate of Distance Education is not having any provision of giving scholarships to its students. The students belonging to the Special Reservation Category (SRC) can avail themselves for various scholarships for the respective state/UT government of which he/she is a permanent resident.

 A- There is no scholarship for OBC candidates.

A – 50% fee concession on tuition fee is extended for the Defence Personnel who has joined to the Distance education courses.

A-The minimum passing marks are follows: 

* UG programmes – 40%

* PG and MBA Programmes – 50%

A – This Directorate is not having provision of online examinations. The students have to appear for the examinations at the Examination Centres.

A – The examination questions will be subjective.

A – The convocation fee for getting the original degree certificate has to be paid along with the final semester examination fee.

A – Yes, Old question papers are available on the University Website (DDE webpage)

A – No, the DDE students are not allowed to get the degree in the convocation.

A – In case of urgency, the student may apply for degree certificate under Tatkal scheme by paying an additional fee of Rs.1000/-.
